How it works

How to convert PDF to Excel

  1. Add your PDF

Drop a PDF on the box or click Choose a PDF. Password-protected PDFs work if you know the password.

  2. Check the table

The preview shows the rows and columns that were found. Choose one sheet for all pages or one sheet per page.

  3. Download

Save it as an Excel file or a CSV, or copy it and paste it into Excel or Google Sheets.

Why this converter

Tables out of PDFs, privately

Columns kept

Text is placed into columns by where it sits on the page, so amounts, dates and descriptions stay apart.

Real numbers

Amounts like 1,249.50 become numbers in Excel, ready for SUM and filters. IDs with leading zeros stay as text.

Bank statements

Built with statements in mind: multi-page tables come out as one continuous list.

Private

Nothing is uploaded. Statements, payslips and invoices stay on your computer.

No limits

No sign-up, no daily cap, no page limit.

Text PDFs only

It reads the text inside the PDF. Scanned pages and photos have no text, only pictures of text, so they need OCR first. You'll be told if that's the case.

How to import a PDF into Excel

If you have Microsoft 365 on Windows, Excel can pull tables out of a PDF itself:

  1. Open Excel and go to Data › Get Data › From File › From PDF.
  2. Select the PDF and click Import.
  3. In the Navigator, pick a table (Table001, Table002…) or a whole page, then click Load.

On a Mac, Excel has no From PDF option. Use this converter, or open the PDF in Preview, select the table text, copy it, and paste into Excel (the columns often need fixing afterward).

Copy and paste works for small tables on any computer, but each row usually lands in a single cell. Use Data › Text to Columns to split it, or drop the PDF in the converter above, which keeps the columns for you.

Adding a PDF to a spreadsheet as an attachment (rather than its data) is done with Insert › Object › Create from File on Windows.

FAQ

Questions

How do I convert a PDF to Excel for free?

Drop the PDF onto the converter above. It finds the rows and columns of each table, shows a preview, and you click Download Excel. It's free with no sign-up or page limit.

How do I convert a bank statement PDF to Excel?

Drop the statement here. Dates, descriptions, withdrawals, deposits and balances land in their own columns, and amounts become real numbers you can add up. Tick Only keep table rows to drop the bank's address and headings. Your statement isn't uploaded anywhere.

How do I copy a table from a PDF to Excel?

Pasting a PDF table usually crams each row into one cell. Instead, drop the PDF here and click Copy, then paste into Excel: the columns stay separate.

Can Excel import a PDF directly?

Yes, Excel for Microsoft 365 on Windows has Data › Get Data › From File › From PDF. Excel for Mac and older versions don't, which is where this converter helps.

Does it work with scanned PDFs?

No. A scanned PDF is a picture of a page with no text inside, so it needs OCR (text recognition) first. If you have the original file the PDF was made from, convert that instead.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The PDF is read in your browser with Mozilla's open-source PDF reader, so it never leaves your computer. That matters for bank statements, payslips and invoices.
