FAQ

Questions

How do I convert a TXT file to CSV?

Drop the .txt file onto the converter, check that the columns are split correctly in the preview, and click Download CSV.

My columns are lined up with spaces. Will that work?

Yes. Choose 2 or more spaces (it's usually detected automatically). Values that contain single spaces, like "Ana Lima", stay in one column.

How do I convert a Notepad file to CSV?

Notepad files are plain .txt files. Drop the .txt file onto the converter above: it finds the tabs, commas or spaces between your columns and turns them into a CSV. In Notepad itself you can also choose File › Save As, set Save as type to All files and name it data.csv, but that only works if the values are already separated by commas.

Can I just rename .txt to .csv?

Only if the file already uses commas between values. If it uses tabs or spaces, Excel will put everything in one column. This converter rewrites it with real separators.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser.
