How it works

How to convert XML to CSV

  1. Add your XML

Drop an .xml file on the box, or paste XML and click Convert.

  2. Check the records

The converter finds the element that repeats, like <order> or <item>, and makes one row for each. Pick a different one under Row for each if needed.

  3. Download the CSV

Child elements become columns like ship/city, and attributes like @id.

Why this converter

No mapping needed

Finds the records

It counts repeating elements and picks the most likely record, so product feeds, exports and sitemaps work straight away.

Nested elements as columns

Child elements become columns with paths like ship/city; repeated children are joined with semicolons.

Attributes included

Values like id="00123" become their own @id column, leading zeros intact.

Private

Your XML never leaves your computer.

FAQ

Questions

How do I convert XML to CSV?

Drop your .xml file onto the converter or paste the XML and click Convert. Check which element is used for each row, then click Download CSV.

How does it decide what a row is?

It looks for the element that repeats most often, such as <item> in a product feed, and makes one row per element. You can choose another element under Row for each.

What happens to attributes and nested elements?

Attributes become columns starting with @ (like @id). Nested elements become columns named by their path, like ship/city.

Can Excel open XML?

Yes, through Data › Get Data › From File › From XML, but deeply nested files often need Power Query work. This converter flattens them in one step.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser.
